2.1 Ganh Da Dia

At the top of the list of Phu Yen’s main attractions is Ganh Da Dia – one of Vietnam’s most remarkable rock formations, also known as the Stone Plate Cliff. It lies on the seafront of An Ninh Dong commune, 35 km from Tuy Hoa town centre in Phu Yen province.
It is a geological curiosity made up of thousands of regular hexagonal basalt columns that fit together like a giant mosaic.

The basalt columns extend for around 2,000 metres along the coast and are around 50 metres wide. There are an estimated 35,000 of these columns. They range in height from around 0.8m for the largest to around 0.3m for the smallest.
According to research by geographers and scientists, these basalt columns were formed as a result of ancient volcanic eruptions on the Van Hoa plateau around 200 million years ago. From a distance, Ganh Da Dia looks like a huge honeycomb pattern emerging from the blue ocean.

Cape Dien, also known as Cape Dai Lanh, is located in the Truong Son mountain region, one of the largest mountain ranges in Vietnam.

It was once considered to be the country’s most easterly point and is famous for its stele stating: “The place to welcome Vietnam’s first sunrise”. However, the discovery of Cape Doi, located in Khanh Hoa Nha Trang, has sparked controversy as to which place is actually the most easterly point in Vietnam, calling into question the previous claim. Whatever the answer, Cape Dien continues to attract more and more tourists thanks to its majestic yet peaceful beauty.

2.4 Vung Ro Bay
Let’s move on to Vung Ro Bay, located at the foot of the Deo Ca mountain range, one of Vietnam’s largest passes. Crossing this pass and gazing out over the bay is an unforgettable experience. On one side, you’ll marvel at the sparkling blue sea, while on the other, an imposing, deep pass rises majestically. What’s more, Vung Ro Bay offers a wide range of exciting water sports.
Vung Ro Bay is also a place steeped in history, a reminder of the fierce battles of the past. At the bottom of the sea lies the silent wreck of an unnumbered ship, bearing witness to the heroic sacrifices made by soldiers during the War of Resistance between 1964 and 1965. Vung Ro Bay has been recognised as a national historical and cultural relic since 1997.
2.5 Ong Cop Bridge (Tiger Bridge)
According to legend, an exceptional midwife once lived in this region. One day, a tiger took her to the mountains so that she could give birth to her cubs.
In gratitude for her help, the tiger brought a wild boar back to the midwife’s yard. Even after the midwife died, the tiger continued to visit her grave. Later, the local people erected the Ong Cop temple as a tribute to those who live with love. The Tiger Bridge (Ong Cop) takes its name from this mysterious story.

The Ong Cop Bridge is now the longest wooden bridge in Vietnam and has become an emblematic symbol of Phu Yen province, which you should definitely visit during your stay there. Specially designed in wood, it has a semi-circular structure. However, due to its modest width and low support capacity, this bridge is unfortunately only accessible by scooter or on foot.
2.6 Yen islet (Hòn Yến)
The small islet of Yen is located close to the town centre, accessible by heading towards the village of Nhon Hoi and taking a boat to reach the islet of Yen.

On the north bank of the Da Rang River, the largest river in central Vietnam, an ancient Cham tower stands proudly against the blue sky. Nhan Tower – the “Swallow Tower” – was built in the late eleventh and early twelfth centuries. It is a characteristic architectural work of the ancient Cham people of Phu Yen.

The name Nhan Tower is linked to the abundance of swallows that fly and nest here. Over time, people began to name the tower after this bird. This place also has a sacred dimension, as the ancient Cham people have turned to this holy place to worship the gods for generations.
